Truly Victorian #TV464

Pattern #TV464 1883 Riding Habit Bodice

This is a double breasted habit bodice taken from an 1883 tailoring guide. This was one style that was very popular during the late bustle era, and is suitable for 1882-1889. It has a roll collar/lapel, double points in the front, and square tail with a center back vent. The 2-piece coat sleeve is very slim, with a slightly full head. Combine this bodice with TV264 -1883 Habit Skirt for riding outfit. Or wear it with a regular skirt and overskirt for a tailored day dress. This bodice is designed to fit snuggly over a corset, and over a moderate sized bustle. Multi-sized 30-50" bust included in pattern. Approximate yardage: fabric 45" wide-2 1/2 yards for sizes 30-44 and 2 3/4 yards for sizes 46-50.

Truly Victorian #TV264

Pattern #TV264  1883 Riding Habit Skirt

This riding skirt was worn while riding sidesaddle, and is historically correct for 1880-1885. It is shorter on the left hand side, longer on the right hand side, and shaped to fit over the right knee. When in the saddle, the hem should hang level front to back. For walking, the right knee has a loop which attaches to a button at the center back. When looped up the skirt becomes floor length all around, and drapes prettily on the right hip. Combine with TV464 for a very nice tailored looking habit, or any other bodice of the same fabric. Multi-sized 22-42" waist  included in pattern. Approximate yardage: fabric 60" wide-3 yards all sizes.
